when im driving, and im in 5th gear it pops out, so then i have to drive in 4th is that bad for my transmission, and what can i try to find out what the problem is?
your 5th gear is probably shot....it could be syncros but i had the same issue in 3rd and when i pulled apart the tranny, there was nothing left of the gear it was almost smooth...the kid i bought the car off of beat the **** out of it with no tranny fluid in it(i know because when i got it it was empty)....you wont really be able to diagnose the problem until you pull the tranny apart

would the role pin have anything to do with it? cuz it just had a bolt and a nut holding it together, and i think the shift linkage isnt even off the same year.
