Default secondhand b16a2....have i been ripped?

i just got a second hand b16a2 for my civic hatch to replace the one in which there is now a big hole in after a rod/piston decided to try to escape. its all fitted and runs sweet (mainly). it leaks oil from the front or side of the engine (cam belt side), when i told the bloke at the breakers yard he told me it was some sort of rubber which had gone hard while the engine was stood, and although it was a pain to get at because of the cam gears, is only pennies to fix and the engine wont need to come apart to do it...is he right or trying to blag me?

i still have the old engine so if it is that, can i use a 'used' part off this engine or will i need a new one? how much are they?

please help me coz my warranty on it only has another week or so

thank yz

p.s what should i get on a compression test?

Is it leaking from the top, or the bottom? if its only a cam seal, they only cost $5 at your honda dealer. You can put them in yourself if you have any mechanical experiance. If its leaking from the crank, its going to be a bit of a pain in @$$ to get to. However you can still fix it rather easily, its just gonna take a little longer. That, and you need air tools for the crank pulley.
