what should i be looking at on the TB? if the throttle cable were loose, is this something that would not start acting up until the car was warm? is tightening it ok? i have heard they can snap...is that true?

What does your car idle at when warm? I had a customer that had the same problem on a '00 EX. He only had i/h/e and there wasn't anything wrong with the install of the parts(they were done by him so we checked just in case).

I would look at your plug wires, cap and rotor. We changed these on this customers car and we never had a problem.

i tried spraying water and carb cleaner EVERYWHERE in the bay...i really don't think its a vacuum problem. when i was driving around before my last post i noticed an odd idle...but no stall. qcoffey, i wish i knew what i was idling at...i have NO tach so you feel a tune up might cure the problem? i would be willing to try. i was just talking to a guy at the local speed shop and he said PGM-FI possibly?!?! who knows.

How many miles are on your car? I say always start with the basics. These would be cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires. You might have something simple like a cracked distributor cap. I've seen cars that won't start because of something simple like this.

Also, do you have a multimeter? If you don't have a tach but a good multimeter(electrical tester) then you can switch to RPM mode and watch your readings. Good Luck.

just over 35k on the motor now...i hear that is low for a tune up right? i wish i had various cool tools like a multimeter...no luck though. i should go with all stock replacements right? cap, rotor, and plugs? do you have any feeling on the PMG-FI scenario?

I highly doubt the problem has anything to do with your fuel injection. If you replace the parts I listed you want to go with Honda OE. With the plug wires you can get a good set from another manufacturer, i.e. MSD or NGK.
