sandblasting head?????
hey just wondering what you guys think..my buddy just got his head back from getting it machined and stuff and when i looked at the head the guy sandblasted the whole head...and he even blasted the cam journals ....so we talk to a coupl of people an some peopl said the head is ****e so said you can fix it and we went back to the guy and he said its fine and just to put the cams back and it will be fine...then when we asked him agian he said to just use like a scotch pad to polish the cam journals..and it obviously sounds like he doesnt know what hes talking about so what do you guys think ...is the head fine the way it is,or is it ****ed or how can it get fixedd....
Bead blasting the cam journals on a head, WTF?
Your only chance of saving that head is to find someone that line bores heads, but that will be a task in itself. Your best and probably fastest bet is to buy another head, and please don't take it back to the same guy. Hope this helps.

Did he bead blast the journals on the cam or the cam bearing surfaces in the head? There isn't really a problem with bead blasting the bearing surfaces in the head. The journals on the cam should be polished after bead blasting. Also, you say 'sand blasting' in your post. Do you mean bead blasting or actual sand blasting. There is a huge difference.
i taped off all the openings to my b16 head, to bead blast it but i dont know
what sand to use to make it look like factory again. please help !!!!!!!! i want to get my crx back on the road

i don't know why they would sandblast the cam journals. They should have masked them off. If only the bearings are damaged- then you can just buy new ones and they usually aren't that expensive.
