Default safe to bore?

This is the question how safe is it to bore a high mileage block?

This is my situation:
I am thinking of bore-ing my b18b, but the block already has 160k on it..
is it safe to bore it? If it is, what the max bore on stock block?

I am not planning to sleeve the block, and I am building a ls vtec which will not run more than 8000 rpm, no FI

1 mm. but i wouldn't even bore it. just hone, 1 mm bore is waste and just weakens the walls. its about half a liter though. on the dseries anyway

I second that. just hone it.

If you boring the block for the extra displacement don't bother. you will only pick up about 0.08 L of displacement.

i would say bore it .025 over, and get it hone anymore than that might be asking for trouble unless you wanna resleeve it . also that ll bring your liter to a 1.8 1/2 .
also make sure you get itr/ctr 25bore pistons or anyother to match the walls.

are you looking to bore for the power or because you have a chiped sleeve or something?

I am more looking to hone, I guess.. I just wanna make sure I get good compression when building the ls vtec.. since my block has high mileage.

But it will be nice to gain more power from bore, if it's safe to do so.
