Default rust on rods

new set of rods have rust on them....just take them to a machiene shop and get them shot-peened and micropolished? there is no rust where the bearing/pin go...just little spots of rust on the surface here and there on the rod....weird thing is only 2 of the 4 rusted...the other 2 are perfect? stupid cheap scat rods...i let them sit to long

Use some WD-40 and a toothbrush... if the rod journals are rusted you can clean that off with an emery cloth.

Honestly, I wouldn't be too bothered by some surface rust. Got any pics? How bad is it?

they look worse in the pics with the oil on them....but you get the idea...outta the two that rusted this one is the worse of the two...just surface rust...no rust where the bearing/pin goes....what do you think?

Spend some time and polish them up, the rust isnt going to hurt the strength of the rods unless its very deep and pitted.

Seems like that would scratch the rod up... Wouldn't it screw up the balance on the rods if they were scratched from a wire brush?

If the rods are balanced to the .00000001 ounce of metal that may flake off if you brush like its going out of style, my hat goes off to you.
