Default RPM - Tach

Hello all, i have installed a vtec controller.
i have set the vtec point to engage at 5800rpm on the vtec controller.
But when i watch my tach on the dash, the vtec actually engages at about 6000-6100rpm.

The rpm from the vtec controller does not match the rpm on the dash.
What could be wrong?

Well the stock tach in the gauge cluster is generally HORRIBLY wrong. But also on the controller make sure that you did do the initialize option so you're not running it on some other setting if you bought it used. The other thing is to make sure you're running it according to a 4 cylinder with the fuel curve arrow going in an up direction. When I first installed mine it somehow set itself to a 6 cylinder which was weird to say the least. It is generally right on track once I set it to the 4.
