Default Roller rockers

If the Vtec engine roller rockers on the market must be used with that same company's CAMs adn they disable Vtec- Could you put that setup in a Non-Vtec engine and get good results?

The roller rockers can be used on any manufacturers cams. The reason they disable the VTEC effect is because they constantly ride on the middle lobe of the cam. That lobe being the VTEC lobe. They kill low-end TQ, and are meant for high revving race only turbo applications. I do not know of any manufacturer that makes roller rockers for non VTEC equipped motors. I have spoken with reps from both Ferrera and Crane Cams, and they assured me that a streetable verision would be made available within this coming year for other applications.

I was under the impression that to getthe full benifits of the RRs you had to go with a set of CAMs deisgned to work with them. Hmm. Still, from what you posted, other than possible fitment related issuses, there does not seem to be any reason the non-vtec engines can not use RRs. If you were able to make them work in a n-v(non-vtec) engine could you not then raise its RPM limit plus possibly have greater displacement and close or better overall numbers?

They use the CENTER lobe!!! In other words you would have to get a VTEC cam to use the roller rockers on a LS or CRV!
Edit: if you were to put the roller rockers on a non vtec engine you would get no valve lift at all.

Hey now, lower your voice a bit. If you read my post then you should have seen the part about "fitment issues". I understand that currently no makes them for N-V b-series or any other N-V engines. What I was trying to get at is, if someone developed RRs for, say the b18b, would that negate the advantage of having RRs in a b18c?

Stock vs Stock with jsut the Rollers? Nope, the B18C would beat you everytime......just it would run rough and crappy in the lower RPM's but, once that thing got to 3500 or even 3000 there gonna be faster cause the center lobe is more aggressive.

The roller rocker also changes the timing specs when swapped onto a non roller ground cam. You could not compare apples to apples.

The famous line....... I was attempting to keep it simple, if the lobes stayed the same for both cams and you added roller rockers then there would be no difference between the performance of the two engines. There would be in a LS vs LS with rollers but if both the LS and the GSR are given roller rockers and nothing else is changed the GSR will still come out on top.

Okay I see what you guys are saying. Now, if you still feel like answering what ifs, what would happen if both engines were given cams gorund specifically for roller rockers and the rpm limit was set at the same point?
BTW thanx.

the GSR.
vtec head
different gear ratios
higher reving motor
different rod ratio
head already built for rev

The C would still come out on top. The vtec heads just flow better from the factory, plus the slightly larger valves etc.

The stroke of the LS would still keep it from revving as high as the GSR.
