Rod bearings...
Hey i am looking at buying a 92 prelude si 4ws..the guy wants about 1900 for it.. price being so low becuse it has a bad motor. what's wrong with it is its rod bearings. I dont know what rodbearings are exactly or how much they will cost to be replaced and implemented. Anyone with extensive knowledge heres your chance to flex some knowledge on me.. i am friends with a mechanic but id like to know how much i would be looking at paying for fixing this car. hit me up on aim if its more convinient:: natakublitz. Well you are only looking at $50 for a set of rod bearings but the problem is what condition is the crank and rods. You won't know until you look at the rods and crank. If the motor has to come out because of other repairs, you are looking at $1500 to $2000 for a complete rebuild.
Does the guy know its the ROD BEARINGS? If Its the main journal bearings then your in for a whole lot more work. If its just the rod bearings and the crank is in good shape then its a pretty easy fix. If the crank is scored then its going to cost a bit.
If your looking for Performance the 4WS is not the way to go. You will have problems later when you want to do suspension mods.
