whoa, that better be just a drag car. i don't think you can build a ls/vtec and rev that high Safely. r/s ratio is not good for high reving.

I have a ls/vtec and rev it to 8.5 x1000 ocasionally with stock parts and have never had a problem yet.

The ls bottom-end was never intended to spin above 7200rpm. Unlike the vtec blocks the ls has no oil squirters below the pistons to help cool them at higher revs. One of my buddies has an lsvtec in a 00 Si using a p72 ecu (gs-r) which raises the rev limit to 8200rpm, you can rev it that high ocasionally but i would reccomend not taking it above 7500 on a regular basis. I've been doing a lot of research on installing the squirters on the ls block and it looks like it will be cheaer to use the vtec bottom-end than to get the squirters. To make an lsvtec survive 9k will take some serious work unfortunately. Good luck hope that helps.

You'd have to build the hell out of the engine to rev it that high with any sort of longevity. Personally, I'd just get a B18C block with a B16A head.

It's not the oil squirters that allow the LS block to rev high.

It's the crappy rods, and unbalanced bottom end that stop it from doing so.

9k on a LS or CRV bottom end???

NO PROBLEM!

ARP rod bolts - Properly stretched

Crank, pulley, flywheel, rods - All balanced as a rotating assembly

LS rods - Balanced, weight matched, and shot peened.

9k - Here we come.
