Default Rev Limiters

I have a 2000 GSR which I am in the process of building. I have the basic I/H/E, and am looking to do cams/springs/retainers. My question is this:

What options do I have for raising my rev-limiter? I'm not looking to do anything crazy like 9k, or spend $1000 bucks. I'm looking for something reasonably priced, and easy to do. I looked at Hondata, but I dont have the skill to be soldering on my ECU. In addition to this, I also want to run a VAFC. I'm in need of sugestions.

Thanks for any input!

You would need to change the ecu.
The most cost effective solution is this:

OBD1 ECU = 150(p28)
custom chip = 150
harness adapter = 250

total of 550

Fair enough, let me add to this:

1) Smog legal is always a good thing. I guess with a second ECU, I could just take it out, and put my stock ECU back in.

2) Who is a good company to put a custom chip in?

Other than putting the new chip in, is there anything else that needs to be done? Will this light my CEL?

Thanks!
