Default Rev limit

If you have hondata and set your rev limit at say 8200 rpm. Are you safe from mishiting (e.g. shifting into 2nd gear instead of 4th gear)? Your rpms would shoot up, but wouldn't the hondata cut the motor out with the rev limit?

Nope. It would cut fuel/ignition, but the motor is still free to spin at the speed determined by vehicle speed and gearing.
