Default Restrictive Flex Pipe (it has internally collapsed)

As the title says, the inside of my flex pipe looks like it has partially collapsed. Here is a photo looking down into the flex pipe from the header flange:

I'm sure it wasn't that restrictive when I installed it! Is it a poorly constructed flex pipe or is something else wrong? I have the energy suspension motor mount inserts so there should definitely not be any excessive movement. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I've seen this before on quite a few cars with this style of flex pipe....The kind with the accordion thing inside seems to hold up better.

Did you change it? Is the car running better?
