Default replacing valve cover

when putting on a new valve cover, say like a jdm one or something. Do you have to buy a new gasket? also do you have to oil up the inside before putting it on? anything else?

Thanks.

you should put a new gasket on but u dont need to. clean up the insides on the valve cover where the gasket sits on. i put some honda bond on the edge where it makes a half loop. been doing this for my car and customers car. never had a car come back because of a leaking valve cover.

either use honda bond or just soak the gasket in Motor Oil and then put it on

any silcone will work you don't have to go buy that overpriced hondabond ... i get it free and i see no use in using it exclusively any grey silcone will work ... and yes dont be a cheap *** buy a new gasket because if your old gasket is hard then it will probally leak
