Default Replacing seat cover... Sparco Evo.

Not sure where else to ask this...

My Sparco Evo has seen better days. It has a few tears in the fabric and what not, so I recently purchased a replacement seat cover. It comes with all the differnet bits to cover the entire seat and all the cushions.

Now, I am going to replace it while I put new carpet in my car as well. So I would like to do it all at once. And since the car is a daily driver, I am only going to be able to pull the seat out for, say... the weekend.

I know the Evo has a spring loaded cover, so I figure it should be relatively easy to replace.... but, just so I don't get caught off guard...

Does anyone have any tips/tricks for me?

Has anyone replaced the cover of their race bucket before? Is it as straight forward as I think?

Should I purchase replacements for the plastic belt/harness loops as well?

Thanks

I had to remove part of my old race seat to install a back brace on my old seat setup.
It's pretty straight forward. But make sure not to over-stretch the springs or they will not hold like they used to. And be sure to take it easy when removing the old cover as to not tear any of the foam, because torn foam will be a pain to get back into place properly.

Hmmm... the left side bolster already has some torn foam. It has worn through to the fiberglass from where my belt sits on my pants/hips. Will this be a big problem?

I was thinking I may be able to get a think layer of foam from a fabric store or something, and use it to cover the spot before I replace the outer cover.

And thanks for the heads up on the springs. I may order some replacement springs now just in case

It was around $160. Relatively cheap, IMO, cosidering that it comes with every cover for the seat and the cushions.

The cover on my Sparco Pro2000 was glued to the fiberglass in the upper portion of the seat around the headrest area. Be prepared for that. Otherwise, I think it's pretty straightforward. I have only removed the cover though. I have not yet put a new cover on. Did you buy directly from Sparco? Did it take any time to come in, or did they have it in stock?

Thanks for the heads up

I ordered from http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com... The cover was not in stock and they said it would take around 6 weeks to arrive. About a week later I had a package on my doorstep directly from Sparco. So I don't really know what to tell you.

That being said... I scoured the internet for a replacement cover, and it was not listed anywhere as even being available. A mild search now turns up "replacement covers" as well as replacement springs, and other harder to find items... so maybe Sparco is beginning to distribute them more frequently/etc.
