replacing pistons and rods on b18b....
i have a b18b with a drag 3 kit.I blew my pistons rings in cylinder #4 and i dont want to just replace the rings so i am buying cp pistons and eagle rods. i have a few questions before i do it. Should i get my cylinder walls honed? i am not pulling the motor. im pushing the rod up from the block and taking the head off. is it possible to clean off all the metal shavings that get onto the crack after honing? also do i have to hone the cylinder walls? can i just replace the pistons and rods without honing or boring? thanks honda-tech.
actually i work at a honda dealership and i am good friends with the mechanics...they said u dont have to pull the motor. They do this procedure all the time. i got enough info from them. thanks n e way honda-tech..
you can pull the head and then pull the oil pan, and leave the block mounted in, if you have a lift. Seems like a pain to me, though.
Youll need to do some research on what rings you are going to want to run, as well as what pistons, ETC.
