use a volt meter
are you getting power to the large round terminal on the starter, all the time?
are you getting power to the small blade terminal on the starter only when you crank the engine? since you're going to unplug this wire, test at the wire, and not on the starter itself. probe the wire terminal while having someone attempt to start the car.
check for continuity between the body of the starter to any good known ground.
if you have power to both of the terminals at the correct times, the starter is bad.
if you do not get power to the large round terminal, either the starter-to-battery cable is no good, or the battery itself is no good.
if you do not get power to the small blade terminal, some part of the ignition (that involves starting only) is no good. i.e. ignition switch, neutral safety/ clutch switch, wires...
if you do not get power to both terminals, then it's likely the battery. is it installed correctly?

Check the stater relay and other fuses, Clutch safty switch, and for power going to the starter. Also, Do you have an alarm?
check your grounds..!! all of them especially the one where the batt ground is on the body..you might wanna take it off the body clean with sand paper and reinstall...
