Default Replace flywheel but use same clutch?

Is there anything detrimental to just replacing a flywheel with a lightened unit while using the same clutch?

As long as the disc is still in good shape you will be ok.Most people change the disc and pressure plate because they are ussually worn and don't want to pull the tranny again in the near future.

If you are taking the effort to replace the flywheel you might as well throw a new clutch in.

that's what i figured.

My clutch is only a year old, so I'd rather just keep the clutch

It all depends on your funding situation. A new clutch kit costs several hundred dollars. And even just a new disk is going to cost over $100. For this reason, I would take a chance on the one I already have (if it looks good) rather than dumping several hundred dollars (that I would rather spend on something else) on a new clutch. Even if I was to get only a year or two out of it, I would consider the risk worthwhile. Replacing a clutch might not be the funnest thing in the world. But it is hardly the end of the world. If, on the other hand, you have money to burn, you might as well upgrade your clutch.

replacing Just the flywheel is ALOT simpler than replacing the clutch I presume?
