removing the head off an LS

I picked up an LS motor but it needs new rings, pistons...
do I have to remove the cams to take off the head studs and remove the head?
any advice would be apreciated...

yes you have to remove the cams to get the head bolts off......

Be sure to put the rockers back where you pulled them. I didn't and I had problems doing my valve lash.
