Removing cable transmission case
Please help guys, I'm stuck over here
Trying to pull the transmission case off a JDM S1 transmission. I need to unbolt the reverse idle gear and remove the c-clip from the main shaft before I can pull the case.
Problem is, I don't know where those are
PLEASE can someone tell me/show me where?? I've been looking for almost 2 hours and I can't figure it out!! There's no info on the 'Net or on H-T that I can find, either!
*edit* This is the only info I have:
"There is also a bolt that holds the reverse idle gear in place. If you don't remove it then the upper case will hang up when you try to remove it. The reverse idle gear sits in a shift fork and you can't split the case. If you remove that bolt and the spread the C ring with two screw drivers it will open up no prob. Just pay attention to the location for everything. You will have to remove the shift forks and linkage to pull the main and counter shafts out. good luck

OK I'm pretty sure the circled hole in the pic used to have the reverse idler gear retaining bolt... I pulled out that bolt. Now all I need is to find the mainshaft's retaining C-clip! Someone's gotta know!
The one on my S1 transmission is stuck so tight, the hole is stripping out
But I can pull the one off an old D15 transmission without any force at all...
I see a C-clip behind the one on the D15, is that where the retaining C-clip is?!?
If so I owe you a
!!

Well, I got it - I'm almost ashamed to say how
Used a screwdriver wedged in between the mainshaft and the reverse idler gear... the straight-cut gears were the only ones that would hold the screwdriver. But it came out!
Now to put the tranny back together
