Reliability of sleeved blocks
I have heard that sleeving a block drastically reduces the life of the engine. I just want to know one way or the other. I'm looking to have my block bored over and want to know if I should go all out or do it conservatively.
The blocks are sleeved from the factory, so sleeving in and of itself means nothing. Material choice as well as the quality of machine and assembly work does, but there's no reason to assume a properly built block with aftermarket sleeves wouldn't last a long and healthy life.
This is very untrue. We have people with over 80,000 miles on their Golden Eagle sleeved motors that have had not one problem at all. When you, and if you, are going to get sleeves, use a place that has a warranty on their products. We here at Golden Eagle Mfg. have:
1. LIFETIME warranty against sleeve cracking!!!
2. Warranty against sleeve sinking.
3. Warranty against water leaking into the oil chamber!
Just thought you may want to know!

Doesn't that #3 clause leave you open for liability? An improperly installed headgasket, defective headgasket, blown headgasket, or warped deck could cause that.

J/KGE has my block right now. In fact...where IS my block? heh
