Red Lining???
I was wondering what redlining the engine is. I mean you drive the car into the red and thats a bad thing but how is it that after modifications a car like a prelude that previously redlined at 6800 (around there) can redline at 9000 rpms. I don't get it. Doesn't that damage the engine. If anybody has an answer please explain in detail. Theories and lectures welcome. Pictures, Schematics or simple cavelike drawings are welcome. I heard that switching ignitions systems helps this too.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Modifications make something better most of the time right!?! Okay, so you put stronger parts.....valve springs, retainers, pistons, rods, crank....TADA. Oh, you have to remap the ECU too. Redline is the established point of fuel cut off programmed into the ECU. It somewhat protects the engine with it's stock parts from falling apart I.E. throwing a rod.....means too high of RPM and the bolts on the rod wouldn't hold and it fell off of the crank and then the piston ignights again and the rod desides, since it isn't connected to the crank anymore to go through the block
