Default RED engine oil?

was doing a oil change and spark plug change for my mom today when i noticed the oil coming out of her engine was red. I made sure that i hadn't drained the tranny first. then checked again. when coming out it wasn't black, like in my honda. but red like from tranny fluid. She had complained of the engine not running right. Is there a synthetic oil that is red or additives that would make oil red, even after 3000kmiles?

oh yeah, damn Kragen didn't have any NGK or Denso plugs and mom didn't want to go to pepboys so we go Champions, hope it'll work fine.

Amsoil synthetic starts out red.More of a dark maroon after some miles.Start looking for some better plugs.Champions have never been my friend.

so no one has seen red motor oil? hmmm i hope those fools at O'connel automotive didn't try and take advantage of my mom because she is a woman and put in ATF fluid...that is what I suspect. But then again it only appeared red when draining down from the oil pan as light passed through it. When i touched a papertowl to it i saw it was brown. So i don't think its atf fluid. well i hope not at least.

Redline is kinda red but not for long... if it is red red it sounds like ATF she is probably allset if the motor wasnt run to long on it and isnt knocking or anything I would save the stuff that came out and go to the place that changed it and ask them whats up with that. At my work we have reels with different oils in them and it would be easy to grab the ATF hose by accident. ATF will make seals swell so if the car starts smoking soon thats the reason fo sho.

im pretty sure its oil. When i worked in hte pit i would see red instead of black oil coming out. Somethign with light and brown oil makes it red looking. get some on your finger and if its brown its jsut from lighting. If its pink/red then it was ATF.

If they stuck ATF oil in there by mistake, your car would smoke like a bitch through the tail pipe.
