Rebuilding oil pumps...
Ok, I'm a very budget minded build with my SOHC. All the machine work has been free and all internals have been cost. I'm in college and doing what I can to get the best out of my SOHC. If I opt to get a OEM oil pump from the dealership, that will be my biggest investment in the engine! True, without oil pressure, it will all be a waste, but what about the oil pump repair kits that Napa sells?? 10 bucks for new seals! I look at it like a carb...replace the seals/gaskets and you're good unless the mechanical shape is in question. There is 120k miles on my oil pump, and will trye and get a used oim pump with less miles. This will see the ocasional drag strip, but mostly weekend auto crosses.

provided you have the time and the tools to check the wear on the pump, rebuild it. otherwise, get a new one

I suppose you can buy the new seals for it but what about the condition of the oil pump gears itself? 120K miles on this thing will have worn out the oil pump gears so drag racing them wouldn't be a great idea untill you replace it with an OEM one.
