Default Rebuild tranny or not?

I currently have a DX tranny (90 CRX), and am in the process of acquiring an Si tranny. It is said to be in good condition (no bearning noise/grinds, etc). Now, should I install it and use it until it develops problems? Or should I rebuild it now and hopefully avoid problems? I'm using the car for a daily driver/auto-x, and don't have lots of $ to play around with (college!!). My current tranny has a noisy mainshaft/countershaft bearing, so I thought I would upgrade completely instead of replacing the bearing in this tranny (already did once). I'm looking to install the tranny myself, but am unsure about cracking it open and rebuilding it. What would you guys do in my situation?
