Default reason for syncro sleeve going out?

This will be the second time I open up the tranny because of a 3rd gear grind. The first time (around 4 months ago)the syncros were a little worn but the slider/sleeve was complete gone!...replaced it. Now second time around I check it out and the syncros look the same but the sleeve is almost as bad as last time . I am going to replace the whole 3rd/4th syncro set this time but I want to know what could cause it to go so quick? Its my daily driver so I rarely rev it high!

what kind of shifter are you using? Do hold the shifter excessively? How's your linkage?

hows your mounts?

stock shifter. I used to hold the shifter all the time but after the first time I really havent.
What in the linkage should I check?
Mounts look fine...maybe I should put some inserts and make it a little stiffer?

best bet is to just take it apart and take pictures.

Did you inspect your shift fork?

alright. I'll do it when I get home tonight. One more thing...the mainshaft top bearing comes off very easily, I can pretty much take it off with my hand if I tried, it almost just slid off. It was like that the first time the sleeve got chewed up and I took it apart but I didnt replace it. would that have anything to do with it?
