is it really necessary to break in an ACT clutch?
as the topic says, is it REALLY necessary? would a couple hundred miles then a race hurt? hehe...my friend hella wants to race me...and i dont wanna wait, but if it'll prolong the life of my clutch extensively then i'll wait till it's broken in, how many miles shoudl i break it in..400-500 or so? i have an ACT with HD (heavy duty pressure plate) and street strip disc.
ACT recommends you drive it lightly for 200-300 miles before you do any spirited driving. In other words, no spinning tires, no full throtle take offs, and no redlining and then shifting until after the brake in period. Unless of course you like replacing your clutch after a few months.
if you dont break it in its not gonna perform the way its supposed to
keep your foot off the throttle
im sure your friend can wait

Yeah as far as I know all clutches have to break in. Espescially high dollar aftermarket ones.
puck based discs dont have break ins.
