Default reading a compression test

my compression test reads 160-160-160-0

this is a bone stock gsr motor...also makes a ticking noise soungs like a valve definitely not loud enough to be a rod.

If it is a valve it should be in that 1st cylinder that reads 0 but can anyone explain why the compression is so low in the other 3 cylinders?

so you think if i replaced the valve....the rest of the cylinders would bump back up?

no they wouldent. each sylinder is independant to the next. the only time that the other cylinder would be effected on a compression test would be if there was a crack in the cylinder, cylinder head, or a blown headgasket. check your readings again. 0 is a very unlikly number. sounds more the the gauge is defective. unless there isint a piston in that cylinder.

im just trying to make sure that when I replace the head with a spare head im using, that the valve would be the only problem. Im just worried that maybe the other low compression readings would come back to haunt me. Like after putting it all together and then facing something else going bad. thanks for the inputs

when you pull the head, inspect the cylinder walls really good, more than likely your comression was 160 because of the blown gasket...make sure you pay the machine shop to inspect the head before they resurface it...lets us know the outcome
