I have a short shifter on my 2000 civic ex and it rattles and vibrates all the time, but most when I'm idling. I took my car to the Honda dealer for a check up and he said my short throw shifter was hitting my exhaust. Could this be the cause, and if so how can I fix it? The short shifter was installed when I bought the car, so I don't know if that is when the vibration started.

 

i had the same problem when i put a short shifter in my car. get a longer or adjustable hangar bushing that will let your exhaust hang a little lower and that should solve the problem.
to double check if its your exhaust pull up on the shift **** while its rattling if it stops its probably your exhaust.
