Default radiator cap ?

i have a 97 gsr and if i drive for more than 30 min my car will start to over heat. so i pull over and the over flow is filled to the brim. poured it all back into to raditor and went on my way bout another 30 min and it starts over heating again. wats going on ? the thermistat was just replaced and the water pump and timing belt were just done to. ( i know that i cant spell ) but one of my friends said that it could be the radiator cap ? any info would be helpful. thanx

The overflow bottle is there to collect the radiator fluid that gets pushed out due to expansion when heated. As the system cools, it is sucked back into the radiator. There is no way you could normally pour the coolant from the overflow back into a radiator on a properly operating cooling system, like you indicate you did in your post. Did you recently flush and fill the system and fail to get all the air out? Otherwise it might be a headgasket letting gasses blow into the cooling system.

A properly functioning radiator cap is an important part of the system, but your symptoms indicate you've got other problems.

That avatar is crazy funny. LMAO. Anyway, I second that. You have to bleed the system properly. Good luck.

did you bleed it till the lower hose got the same temp as the top hose, and till the fan came on?
