Default Qustion about using DIE tap kit

My ball joint for the LCA is cross threaded

My question is will the tap work to fix these threads?
The nut goes in for like 4 spins on the threads, then just stops

Can this be fixed?? PLease let me kno

There are specific dies that are sold to "clean up" threads, instead of cutting new ones. I'd look into picking one of those up...

I'd make sure there isn't any dirt in the nut or on the balljoint, it's pretty damn hard to crossthread those things... especially 4 turns in...

Would I be able to us a hex die that is M12 x 1.50

Would the nut, not go in??

It might? The ball joint is exactly that... a joint. If you try and rethread the end of it, there is a possibility the joint itself will just rotate within the boot.

Any particular reason you are straying away from replacing the whole assemble? It builds character (and breaks cheap c-clamps!)
