Default Quick yes no valve cover question

We are about to paint my friends valve cover, after we take it off do we need to put a new valve cover gasket on? im guessing the gasket on there is just the stock d16 one. But i dont want it to leak oil and whatever..
Thanks

If you are careful pulling it off, it is not cracked or stretched, and is applied carefully again, you should be able to use it again no problem. Just make sure to use silicone sealant in the right places if you pull it off of the valve cover.

If it's still in good shape and squishy should be fine, also careful when you put it back on those bolts are weak! If it does leak you can try to fix it or get a new one and your only out about 5 minutes of time.

Personally, I dunno how much these gaskets cost but if it's not too much I'd get a new one just to be on the safe side, and it will be one less thing to fail on you since it's new.
