quick wiring (wire tuck) question
sorry if this is in the incorrect setion but i just joined and couldnt find anywhere else to put it.
Basially im planning a wire tuck and want to know is there any wires i should avoid cutting? i heard a small resistane drop happens over the soldered joints. Would this be a problem with the likes of wires running to sensors or injetors etc
cheers

988 page thread, everything you'd ever want to know about wire tucks...

I have no problems with my extended injector wires I just made it so the harness goes under the manifold.

Any connection has resistance, adding length to a lead adds resistance, a proper connection will have the least amount of resistance, as will the least amount of connections.
The best possible way to extend leads is to replace the whole lead, [no connections] very time consuming as you are making a new harness, next would be to replace the whole lead from the extension point, [one connection], also time consuming but a better cleaner way.
What we will do is hit up the pick&pull for a complete harness, cutting the leads needed back up the harness far enough to make up the extension and then making the connections, [one for each lead].
Best way to make a connection is to strip 1/2" of insulation from leads, push leads, [stripped parts] together, use a strand of copper wire from a scrap piece of lead, to wrap around the leads that have been pushed together, making a tight bundle, solder the connection, "paint on" some liquid electrical tape, slip heat shrink over connection and shrink it, makes pretty much a bulletproof connection with the least amount of resistance and airtight so oxidation can not occur. 94
