quick question on adjustable timing gun
After you set your timing gun to 16 degree, should the white mark or the red mark align with the arrow? As I recall when the timing gun is set to zero the red mark should line up with the arrow and when I turn the **** to 16 the white mark will line up with the arrow. I just want to be sure. Thanks

If you use a timing gun WITHOUT the advance feature built into the gun, then you gotta use the 16+/-2 marks on the crank pulley. If you dial in the 16deg. advance to your timing gun, then you use the TDC mark, which is the one all by itself.

can somebody here explain to me a what the three lines on the crank pulley stand for?
i have a timing light, but i can't dial anything in with it, i have to use the lines on the crank pulley so can somebody explain to me what exactly those lines stand for when advancing and retarding your ignition timing to see if i have it correct?
thanks

Re: quick question on adjustable timing gun (93hb)
The white tick farthest away from the other marks (kinda off by itself) is the top dead center mark... If you have a digital timing gun all you have to do is set the gun to whatever degree then rotate the distributor till you are lined up on the TDC mark... If you scroll over counter clockwise from that there will be 3 other ticks... the red one in the middle indicates 16 degrees before top dead center... If you are using a standard timing gun and your distributor is factory set you when you aim the gun down at the tick it should be firing on it... The one clockwise from that indicates 14 degrees BTDC and the one counter clockwise closer to the front of the car shows 18 degrees BTDC... A digi timing gun is still the easiest and most accurate because there is really no way to set 18 degrees + and 14 degrees - with a std gun.... Hope this helps... Peace
