I just wanted to make sure i'm using this gun right. I'm trying to set my timing to 16 degre timing. Do i put the dial on the timing gun to 16, then line up the crank unit it is at the mark in the middle? I know that i have to jump the ecu already.
um. i have the same timing gun and the way ive always done it is you leave the dial at zero. then jump the ecu and put line up the 16 deg. line with the triangle on the timing belt cover .
The 14/16/18 degree marks on the crank pulley are for you to use if your timing gun doesn't have the advance dial feature. So set the dial at zero & adjust to those marks.
Or...
Set the dial at 16 degrees and look for the TDC mark, the one all by itself. This should give you the same result. The dial on your timing gun is handy if you want to set something other than stock, or if you've got a crank pulley without the 14/16/18 marks.
