quick alternator question

quick alternator question

i was looking on my friends alternator and i was curious if that one wire that is bolted onto it is a ground? anyone know this one?

The big thick *** wire that is held onto the alternator with stud - def not a ground, just the opposite actually. It feeds voltage to the battery.
