Default question on braking

Hey all, I'm trying to pin point a problem with my car. My steering wheel shakes really hard when i'm braking. My friend told me I need to replace my brake rotors. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this. If it is so that i need to replace my roters, is there a site where I can purchase a set of rotors, nothing special like crossed drilled ones. Thanks in advance.

sounds like ur rotors' runout is outta spec. u can try to get your rotors resurfaced if they r still serviceable.

If that's the case, how come it only does it when the brakes are applied?

Answer- rotors are warped. You can either have them turn, but turning takes material away, making it easier to warp them in the future. I dunno about you, but I've been racing for 7 years, and I've found that 1) OEM rotors are best, and 2) just replace an $18 rotor instead of dicking around with turning it...

The choice is yours.

yo, what make/model. some honda rotors (i.e. 4th gen accords) are pressed onto the hub, meaning you need an air hammer to get them off or take them to a machine shop to have them pressed off the hubs and then the new rotors pressed onto the hubs. might wanna find out if you have the pressed rotors before you decide to turn it into a DIY project

No. 4G Accord brakes are bolted to the backside of the hub flange, nessecitating removal of the axle from the hub, popping the lower ball joint out to do so, and removing the hub. It's a pain in the ***.

That's the same thing I asked my friend when he answered my question about my steering wheel shaking when I apply the brakes. He said he didn't know, I said ok and got new tires. The problem went away.

I have only had 1 set of rotors come out the way were designed to on 90-97 accords, all others had to have the hub pressed out of the bearing because the bearing rusts/corrodes itself into the knuckle. You can beat the bearing out of the knuckle with an air hammer, but this usually damages the the bearing. Bottom line- it's a pain in the ***!
