Default Question on automatic transmission

I have this situation on my civic. It's a 98 ex (not that it matters) but i've been having some problems recently. And im not quite sure whats the cause of the problem. I know it's an automatic but when ever i drive it, it seems as if the automatic clutch/torque convertor slips. It slips as if it was a 5spd w/ a fried clutch. When the car is cold, and I drive it in the morning or at night everything drives fine, but when the car is at normal tempurature it slips every now and then.

Does anyone know what would be the cause of this problem? Tranny going bad? Torque convertor going bad? Please anyone with any opinions would greatly be appreaciated.

When is the last time you checked the tranny fluid level when the engine is running? And when was the last time you changed the fluid and the filter in it?

hmm.. when i bought the car it was a bit low on fluid so i filled it up to the fill level. But I havent changed the fluid or the filter on it. Didnt know there was one. Where would the transmission filter be btw?

Do you 'shift' gears while driving? I may be mistaken, but what I've heard if you do that too much, it can cause some major damage to the transmission...

No, I bought the car the way it was.
