Default automatic tranny problems!!<<<<<<

ok my friend has a 97 ex with an auto tranny. It will drive just fine for a lil while but then it will just stop goin (no slippin up to that point just stops) u can turn the car off and wait about 30 seconds then start it back up and it will do fine for a lil bit then it will do the same thing. i replaced the tranny like 3 months ago cause it was slippin real bad, but i didnt change the torque converter (like a dumbass). The tranny is full of fluid and i have changed all the sensors exept for the long one on the front because i dont have another one.. any one know what that sensor is for? im guessing it is some kind of pressure regulator. any ideas on what the problem could be?

the long thing that you speak of is actually a saleniod i belive. But i don't think that would be your problem. i don't thing that it would be your torque converter, cause it is working fine nad suddenly stopping, there are so many things it could be. It could be a leaking seal on a certain gear clutch pack, if it leaks and disengages the gear while you are going down the road it would stop like like.

any more details like, does the motor stop too, or is it just start slowing down and stops transfering power to the wheels? any kind of noises or check engine lights??

This happened to me. The tranny was bad, I replaced it with a manual one. However, mine was also 'whining' before it went out. Swap the bish over to a manual.

It is hard to say what could be your problem. If you have access to technical service bullitins you might find something there. With out doing pressure checks,
having diagrams and stuff like that it is really hard to say
