Default question about tps voltage...

do i check the volts when the engine running or do i just turn the ignition on??? its suppose to be .500 rite???

you need the ignitoin on, engine running or not, doesnt matter.

should be .45 closed and around 4.5 fully open.

Don't know what engine you've got, but it would make sense that the voltage changes. On my '90 Si there is a vacuum diaghram that holds the throttle open slightly to aid in starting. Once running, the engine supplies vacuum and pulls the diaghram free of the throttle linkage.

this might sound stupid but when you check the tps with a volt meter, were do you put the probes if the tps plug is hooked up to the tps............... and please don't tell me i should put the probes up my ***....lol

read voltage from the center wire , ground the meter and pierce the wire on the TPS with it plugged in and the key on
