Default Question about rechipping a ecu

I have a p06 ecu laying around so i decided to try my hands at chipping it. I can't even get started because i can't get the solder out of the holes where the eprom socket is going to go. When i heat it up and melt it, it won't fall out of the hole and pushing it out with a wire dosn't seem to help either. I just end up soldering that wire in. I know this must seem like a noob question but i want to learn. Please help me.

When I chip ECU's i just use desoldering braid... It's just a copper braid that soaks up solder like crazy... If that doesn't work try a solder sucker.. Once you get it all out just carefully lift out the ROM... Latez
