Default Question about knowing if a ECU is good

I have an ecu that I am going to be putting into my car with the motor swap. The question is; is there a way I can check if the Ecu has any problems with it before actually running it? The reason why I'm asking this is because the guy who I am buying it from says his cousin ran it in his crx and said "it wasn't feeling right". Personally I don't know how you get a "it wasn't feeling right" but that's my opinion. So ya. Anyway to check it? Thanks

if its able to rev past 4000rpm, and the PCB/parts aren't burnt then it should be fine.
