Has anyone fixed their IAC valve problem? when he starts his car...the RPM goes up to about 2000 and then comes down after 3 seconds....is this normal for it to do that? mine is doing the same thing...wat could be the problem?? also i drive normal but my idle is at like 1000 rpm....is that normal??

Welcome to the club. I've had my problems since January. Replaced the IACV, no help. Took it back to the dealership they turned me back saying I voided the warranty (they somehow found out I HAD nitrous in the car... 8 months ago). I'm going to try a new throttle body and TPS soon. The dealership said my throttle plate was bent anyway, and my TPS voltage is a little off.

Could be your fast idle thermo valve. Normally it doesn't trigger a CEL but hey, it's worth a shot.

Otherwise, you sure that all the vacuum and coolant lines going to the IACV are hooked up correctly?

Check all your vacuum and fuel lines. Try playing with the idle screw on the throttle body and see if you can pull the idle down a little. I had that same problem awhile back and it took me like 5-6 months to finally fix it; but I can't really remember what I did cuz I had too many problems since then one after the other nonstop. Good Luck with it.

IMO. i'd check my t/b cable also. set it to where you'd want a good idle, whatever you prefer. below 2k

I personally have checked everything so far. I think it's the throttle cable though. It was kinda tight. Might have been too tight and bent the throttle off axis or something. Gonna try a new throttle body soon.

i've tried adjusting the throttle cable and it didnt do anything. didnt really idle any lower. to adjust it you just turn those two lil nuts and adjust the cable to give it slack or to give it tension right?

another question for you guys....when you start your car...what happens to the rpms? does it go high for a bit and then fall to like about idle....im not talking about from a cold start...lets say your car is all warmmed up and you go get something to eat...at a restaurant...you come out and you start it after....does the rpm stay at 2-3 for about 2 seconds and then drop? or does it drop right away?

i think urs would just be the idle cable positioning...try to set it so that it idles at the right idleing rpm. i think its about 7-8 or maybe even 9...please someone help.

if you're not getting this off an autometer tach then you should adjust it. You can adjust the throttle cable and see if it does anything. If that does not do anything you can adust the lil screw that is right on top of the throttle body itself. you have to use a flathead screwdriveer to do this. Just open your hood...go to the right of your car...and then look at your throttle body. you should see that little screw...turn it in to make the idle lower and turn it counter clock wise to make the throttle higher.
