Default Question about cam gear tuning and ignition timing

when you adjust your cam gears does it have to be at TDC? also does the ignition timing change everytime you adjust the cam gears? thanks for helpingn

when you move the intake cam gear you are also changing the ignition timing since the rotor in the distributor is turned by the intake camshaft. so everytime you make a cam timing adjustment you should adjust the ignition timing as well.

thanks....... so when you advance the intake cam your also advancing the ignition timing? i have a feeling the ignition timing is retarded too much

well, if you need to adjust your ignition timing, the rotate the distributer to advance your ignition timing... loosen the distributer bolts and rotate the distributer towards the firewall... do it in mild increments until you feel that the powerband is what feels appropriate

when installing cam gears, can they be pre-adjusted before installing it? or do they have to be set at 0 then adjusted after the installation?

also what are the consequences of a +10, -10 setting, becos that is what ive done, i didnt adjust the cam gears properly. Any advice?

so u can tune ( adv - ret ) yur motor without messing with the cams? and instead through the distributor?
