Default Question about ARP head stud install

Is it a good idea to tap (clean) the threads in the block for the head studs?? the threads are fine & not stripped, but it's prolly a good idea to clean em up?! also what are u guys torquing ur head studs to using the moly lube?? (GSR engine built for boost 28PSI) i'v done 75FT LBS in other builds and that seems to work fine, but none of those builds were on high boost..

thanks

You're supposed to use a thread chaser to clean out the threads, since a tap could potentially cut some of the existing threads out. If you do decide to use a tap, use plenty of lubrication oil and proceed carefully to avoid cutting any of the existing threads. My B18B studs are 7/16" with 1/2" head nuts, and the torque spec for them is 70lb ft with ARP moly lube, and 80 with oil. If the GSR studs are the same diameter, then I would assume the torque spec is the same. If you have any doubts, verify on the spec sheet that came with your studs.
