my new B16/LS Quaife LSD will rattle (like somethings loose) if I shift its weight from side to side.... is this normal?

I dont believe so, did you tq everything to specs? and although Im not familiar with the quaife setup I do know they have clutch plates inside them. Did you follow the manual on how to properly set them up? I plan on doing the same setup sometime this summer.

 

The quiafe is still in the box, unmounted. I thought the quaife was entirely gear operated, hence their long lifetime and reliability.

 

so i take it this differential is not supposed to make noises when you shake it. I do not have the invoice from its initial purchase, can I still redeem the warranty from quaife?

 

To answer my question, a virgin LSD will make some noise. My mechanic told me there has to be some play on certain parts internally. If it hasn't been dipped in tranny oil then it will make that noise.
