Default Q for the welding gurus

So I finally broke down and bought a half decent Mig welder. I've only done Arc before but I'm getting the hang of Mig'ing, for the most part. The part I have trouble with is tacking. Is there a certain technique you all use to say..tack two pipes together before welding the bead?

after you clamp the tow pieces together you do a qick zap where they join, do 180 degrees apart. then you go around. similar ot how you did arc.,
