Putting nitrous on a B16a???
Ok I have a relatively stock B16A, w/ intake and exhaust. I am looking at either turbocharging or using nitrous. I have gathered alot of info on turbocharging, but I need some more on using nitrous. I want to do this right, I was planning on getting a computer-controlled system such as a zex or venom. What else needs to be done to my engine to support the nitrous. What fuel system mods, do I need upgraded internals, etc. My goal is to run 13's in the 1/4 mile.
A mild nitrous shot will put you in the 13s. Hell, you probably could get there N/A for almost the same cost as doing a turbo/nitrous setup correctly
Car weight is important - how much does yours weigh? Take that into account as much as you would power. Mine weighs 2050 lbs in street trim (3/4 tank of gas), about 2000 lbs at the track, and I run street tires. The time is in my sig. My mods are: timing advanced 2 degrees, ACT HD clutch w/ lightened stock flywheel, AEM CAI, Flowmaster crush-bent 2 1/4" exhaust, stock-sized high-flow cat (2"
), B&M FPR and a Holley 190lph fuel pump. I wouldn't call my car highly modified.
*edit* I must say, the best mod is practice... I dropped almost 0.6 seconds off my time just from doing run after run after run after run for six months straight. So don't expect, whatever you do, to go to the track and bust off mid 13s on your first pass even if your setup says you should be able to run those times.
