it's a gear that sits inside a bigger cog

as the gear turns.. the space between the gear & cog open up sucking oil in.. and then as it rotates it closes forcing the oil out

exactly how is it driven to suck the oil up. I was always under the impression that it runs off the balancer belt. I even took apart a block last night and mildly examined it.

There is a front and rear balancer shaft. The rear shaft looks like its intertwined with the oil pump.

Im looking to rid the h22 of the balance shaft and someone told me to just cut the balance shaft belt. I dont think thats what Im looking for.

I know kazienspeed makes a delete kit. But how does the oil pump drive.

ON the D-series.. the oil pump is driven directly from the crank.

On the other engines you might be correct, I think they are driven off the balancer belt

I know the older accords (early 90s)had the oil pump driven by the balancer belt, but I cannot speak personally for a newer one
Edit - why do you want to rid the engine of the balancer belt? Its there for a reason and vibrations will wipe your bearings out with a quickness
