Default Prothane bushings...

I'm going to be installing soem Ground Control coilovers and Tokico Blues when I get back to the US. I figure while I'm down there might as well replace 10 year old bushings as well.

Looking at the list of prothane bushings I have no clue what bushings I should replace.

They list front control arm bushings for $38.63 and then front upper control arm bushings and front lower control arm bushings for $21 a piece.

Are these 3 separate things or is the first one a package of the upper and lower. Same goes for rear.

Edit* Please bare with my idiocy...this is my first time doing crap myself.

Why not just get a pair of JDM ITR front lower control arms? The bushings are newer and stiffer.

It would be a lot easier than replacing the bushings, and slightly cheaper too after all is said and done.

You'll probably like the ride and handling better anyways. Polyurethane bushings are ultra stiff, and I've gotten the impression that they sometimes have too much initial turn-in play.

How much does a set of ITR LCAs cost? What would you do about replacing the front uppers and entire rears?

Rear ITR LCAs go for about ~$100 for both.

Talk to Brian (b18c1_powered_si) for pricing on everything.

I've got a pair of '97 JDM ITR front LCA's for $75 shipped.

For the rear's, you would have to switch over to using ITR shocks if you used the ITR rear LCA's.

Next best alternative is to buy new del Sol rear LCA's (from Majestic Honda)...$62 each ($114 total). If you only want to replace the bushings, they're $52 for the set of (4) total for the del Sol rear LCA's.

Really, I just don't like to use anything polyurethane unless it's the motor mount inserts (and only sometimes) or shifter bushings if it's a street car.

I've got to get new shocks anyway. Anyone else agree I should just get JDM ITR front and rear LCAs instead?

no. there is no point in you replacing your LCAs. the only ill effects of poly bushings are their stiffness (not the most comfortable thing on the street). this is one of the key elements of your suspension and should be upgraded accordingly (not lazily, which would be by replacing your LCAs with different ones, still with rubber bushings).

if you want to do the bushings right, purchase the entire Energy Suspension master kit and have it all installed at the same time. that way your vehicle is not unbalanced.

as for installation of the bushings, the easiest thing to do is take the parts out that need to have the bushings replaced (LCAs, upper a-arms, etc) and take them to a machine shop to be pressed out. you'll spend around $50 for the labor at the machine shop, and save the days of hassle you'll have to deal with if you do it yourself.

PS. I see why the LCAs were suggested now, he has some for sale.

I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going to end up doing. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to do the front first and the rear after. Sounds like a two day event depending on how long the guys who press it want to screw around.
